A: No! I'm here to help and I speak "pilot." Your plane's airworthiness is my priority, but I'm also sensitive to the cost-of-ownership aspect of flying.
My "personal minimums" as an IA lean heavily in favor of the owner. I'll never sign-off something that is unsafe, but I'm motivated to get you in the air.
Deferred is The Word - My goal is to identify airworthiness items before they ground you. Whenever possible I'm in favor of deferring squawks until the next Annual in order to allow you time to plan for the inevitable. I've performed hundreds of 100hr and Annual inspections and can count the times I've declined to sign them off on one hand.
